‘The 80s’ – Thank you!

Our latest documentary project, ‘The 80s’ screened in the IFI recently as part of the Ireland on Sunday series. The film is an appeal to the collective wisdom of people in their eighties. In making the film, we travelled around Ireland and were privileged to meet so many inspirational people along the way.

Areaman Productions win Trinity College Dublin video tender

Areaman Productions recently won a tender to create a series of promotional videos for Trinity College Dublin.

The content will showcase Trinity College Dublin as a dynamic place of learning, with excellent research facilities, a proud four hundred year tradition of scholarship, strong links to industry and an outstanding Alumni network.

Our cameras will begin filming life on campus this August.

’140 Characters’ & ‘The ’80s’ at the IFI

Our documentary film ’140 Characters’ has been selected to screen in the IFI, Dublin on Sunday July 25th at 1pm.
The film was shot over the course of one week in Dublin City and captures real people from Dublin City talking about their lives.
Despite asking people of all ages the same question, each answer is different.

On the same ticket, you can also see ‘The ’80s’, a film shot all over Ireland featuring 80 people in their eighties
talking about their memories of and their hopes for Ireland. This film is currently in production. Further details and stills will be posted shortly.

’140 Characters’ at Flat Lake

It makes us happy that our film ’140 Characters’ has been chosen to open the Clones Film Festival Marquee at The Flat Lake Literary and Arts Festival 2010.

As long time admirers of the only Festival in Ireland to end it’s Saturday night programme with a ‘Disco dancing like your Mammy competition’, we are delighted to have work shown at the festival again this year. ’140 Characters’ will be shown at 9pm on Friday June 4th. Here’s the preliminary programme that they say will ‘probably change due to unforeseen phreatomagmatic eruptions over Newbliss Aerodrome’. See you there.

South Dublin Libraries were recently nominated as finalists in the 4th European eGovernment Awards 2009. The nomination came for their highly innovative Digital Book Service, the first such service in Ireland and one of very few worldwide. South Dublin Libraries chose to work with Areaman Productions to produce video content that would showcase the service. We produced, directed, shot & edited the video, which was recently screened in Malmo at the European eGovernment Awards.

Digital Cafe Event – 15th April 2010

Digital Cafe was an initiative of IO advertising – a free one-day event aimed at helping small businesses get the most out of digital marketing.

Aimed at small business owners, entrepreneurs, or people with a bright business idea who wanted to know how to creatively and effectively use digital channels to help get a message out there, the Digital Café was a chance to have a coffee, a nice bun and talk to some people who could advise visitors.

Here is a short video that we made about the event:

io provided creative advertising and marketing ideas and plans using digital channels. Return2Sender gave advice on effective mobile marketing. Electric Media were on hand discuss innovative ways to deploy your message. Eircom Mobile gave technical information on how mobile platforms can be made to work for business. Areaman Productions were also there to help with use of video in digital environments. Sunday Business Post provided expertise on the importance of content. Enterprise Ireland were available to advise on the practicalities of funding business ideas.

The event took place on 15th April 2010, in Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre, Dublin.

Areaman @ Pecha Kucha 5!

Having seen Dave & Diarmuid from New Graphic (we share a building) ripping it up at the last Pecha Kucha night, we were delighted and a little terrified when we were asked to give it a go. The fifth installment of Pecha Kucha Night takes place on Thursday April 1st in The Sugar Club, Dublin. We are also delighted that our short documentary film ’140 Characters’ will be screened on the night.
